Why I Chose EFT

I still remember my first day of graduate school. I was nervous, the way you are on any first day. My first class was Developmental Psychology at 8 a.m. — solid, useful, but nothing that changed my life. My next class was Law and Ethics, taught by a professor named Jim Furrow. Judging by the title alone, I walked in expecting to spend the hour trying not to fall asleep.
I was wrong. Dr. Furrow absolutely knocked my socks off. Sitting there on the third floor of Fuller Seminary's psychology building, I remember thinking: I want to be just like him when I grow up to be a therapist. He mentioned something he did called Emotionally Focused Therapy, and I decided right then and there, in that classroom, that this was what I was going to do.
I am so glad I trusted that instinct. EFT turned out to be an incredible, natural fit for how I think about relationships and how I work with couples — and it's the reason I do what I do today. Thank you, Dr. Furrow.
